Bye Felicia

We have all been there. Opened an email, a message or a DM and then BAM the toddler needs you.

Other life things come up and before you know it days have passed without replying if you do in fact even remember to.

I get it, I do it all the time.

This year though I have been on the receiving end of this from someone who for the longest time I have made excuses for.

Someone who was one of my oldest and “best” friends.

I have now gotten to the point that I am fairly sure there is more to these ignored messages than just mum life.

I mean, really, how many times can you use the above excuse to justify someone ignoring your messages?

Once?

Twice?

Three times?

The kicker is that this friend (and I use that term lightly) was meant to be one of my bridesmaids next week.

On one of the happiest days of my life, I was looking forward to having her stand by my side while I marry the love of my life.

We went back and forward about the dresses and then radio silence.

One message, seen and not replied to.

A second message.

Then a third.

I then stupidly sent a fourth which hasn’t even been opened.

So you know what? Enough is enough.

I am moving on.

I have real friends who I have known for a much shorter time that are infinitely more a part of my life.

Who support me and are there for me whenever I need it.

Who reply to my damn messages, even if it is days later.

So bye Felicia, it’s been swell but ain’t nobody got time for this.

Do you have a friend like this in your life? Did you in the past?

Tell me about it below!

  1. Yup, I’ve totally been there. I was the one always making contact, organising catch ups – making all the effort. Then I decided to value myself and my time – I said ‘bye Felicia’ … six months later she came back to me, but our friendship has never been the same. I think it is a great lesson that we all need to learn about valuing ourselves ❤️
